Welcome To The World of
Suspending Rogue™M Fishing.
You have just purchased the most uniquely
designed fishing lure available today... a lure that
acts just like a real baitfish. When you pause
your retrieve, your lure pauses... it doesn't pop to
the surface or quickly sink, it simply sits there,
motionless. Depending on any one of the many
factors explained below, it might slowly rise, or
slowly settle. If there's a fish anywhere around,
whatever the specie, it can't resist this lure's
life-like action.
About Your "Suspending" Rogue.
First, it is difficult, even with today's high-tech engi
neering, to produce a lure that perfectly "suspends"
under all fishing conditions. Even though a sus
pending lure is meticulously tuned, weighted and
balanced, it will eventually, however slowly, rise
toward the surface or settle deeper. There are many
factors that contribute to the degree your lure will
"suspend". Note: You cannot test your Suspending
Rogue by dropping it in a sink, a bathtub or even in
a backyard pool... you must take it to your favorite
fishing water. Its effectiveness will be proven there.
Other factors that affect the suspending action of
a lure: Line Weight: Long casts using 20 lb. test
line adds weight and may cause your lure to
settle faster. A lighter weight line and shorter
casts may cause your lure to rise faster. Hooks,
Split Rings and Snaps: Should you choose to
change hooks or split rings, or elect to use a
snap to attach your line to your Suspending
Rogue, your lure may settle faster than
designed. Finishes: Simple paint schemes are
lighter than the popular Sunburst colors. The
number of finish coats needed to assure the
brilliant flash of the Sunburst colors add a slight,
but critical weight to your lure.
Again... your Suspending Rogue has been
carefully designed to suspend, ever so slightly
rising or settling, under "average" fishing
conditions... using medium weight line, making
average length casts, the median weight color
schemes, and tying the line directly to the line-tie
split-ring.
You will soon discover, if you haven't already, the
excitement of fishing with a Smithwick

suspending action will prompt a strike even after
you've tried everything else. Good fishing!
