Aquasonic Lures — Texas Acoustic Innovations

Aquasonic Lures Inc. was established in the early 1970s by Joe Patrick Hall in Cibolo, Texas. The company focused on the development of lures featuring a specific self-resonating system, with production operations continuing until approximately 1990.

The technical foundation of these lures involved a patented design that allowed water to flow through the internal structure of the lure body. This system, patented by Hall in 1976, utilized internal chambers and channels. During the retrieve, water entered and exited through specific ports, generating vibrations and acoustic signals. This method differed from the vibrations produced by the external movement of standard crankbaits. The purpose of these internal water-flow channels was to create an acoustic profile that simulated the signals of prey within the water column.

Among the models produced was the Aquasonic Deep Baby Noisy, a plastic lure that integrated these internal channels. The patent for this technology remained valid until 1996. The company’s designs were centered on the principle of using water displacement and internal resonance to produce specific sounds intended to be detected by predators.
