Museum Archive: Vintage Pflueger Chum Pflueger, 1oz Nickel / Black / Yellow fishing spoon #6293

Polished nickel surfaces define the 3 1/4" (8 cm) body of this vintage spoon, which was a mainstay of the Pflueger lineup until the 1940s. Identified by product code 6293, the lure weighs a substantial 1 oz (28 g), designed specifically for navigating heavy aquatic vegetation. Its weedless mechanism is anchored by an internal spring-loaded wire that shields the single hook, a technical feature clearly stamped with patent information on the reverse side. The tail is dressed with a combination of black and yellow feathers, providing a soft-textured contrast to the rigid metal frame. Several small rivets are visible across the surface, holding the internal guard components in place. This specimen is presented in 4/5 condition, showing well-preserved plating and clean feather work. Stamped markings on the back remain sharp and legible, identifying it as a genuine Chum model from the Akron, Ohio manufacturer.
