Crane Baits
Crane Baits: The Standard for Premium Wooden Lures
Crane Baits is a company synonymous with craftsmanship and exceptional performance. Founded in 1989 by Rick Crane, it specializes in creating wooden lures designed for hunting large predators.
Production Features
The primary distinction of Crane Baits is its hand-made quality, through-wire construction, and the use of balsa and cedar. A wooden body provides the lure with unique buoyancy and a low-frequency action that cannot be accurately replicated in plastic.
Handcrafted Assembly: Every lure undergoes meticulous sanding and balancing.
Thru-wire Construction: A design where all hooks are connected by a single continuous steel wire ensures the lure can withstand the resistance of the most powerful predators.
Testing: Each individual unit is tank-tested in water before being packaged.
Iconic Series
The Crane 200 and Crane 300 models have gained the most popularity. The 300 series is considered one of the best lures for musky and pike trolling due to its ability to "bounce" off rocks and timber without snagging.
Current Status
Crane Baits lures are positioned in the "premium" segment. Because they are handmade, they are produced in limited batches.
