Museum Archive: Vintage Eppinger Dardevle Cop-E-Cat 7400, 1/2oz Frog (Green) / Nickel fishing spoon #2137

A weight of 1/2 oz (14 g) makes this particular spoon a versatile choice for both casting and trolling setups. The 2 1/2" (6.5 cm) body is finished in a striking Frog pattern, characterized by deep green and cream segments divided by bold black ribs. Flipping the lure over reveals the classic nickel-plated reverse, clearly stamped with "COP-E-CAT 7400" and "DETROIT USA." This specific Detroit mark serves as a nod to the Eppinger company’s early history before their 1959 move to Dearborn. Identified by product code 2137, this specimen is preserved in 5/5 condition, showing a bright reflective surface and sharp paintwork. The spoon comes equipped with a sturdy silver-tone treble hook, attached via a robust split ring at the tail. The hardware and heavy metalwork are indicative of the high-quality standards Lou Eppinger established for his Detroit-born brand back in 1906.
