Stamped into the polished brass back of this specimen are the words "DEVLE DOG 5400" and "DETROIT U.S.A.," a clear nod to the Michigan roots of Eppinger Manufacturing. Measuring 2 1/4" (5.5 cm) in length and weighing 1/2 oz (14 g), this spoon features the iconic Five of Diamonds pattern: five distinct red diamond shapes precisely set against a vibrant yellow finish. The classic black devil head logo is sharply printed on the face, a hallmark of the brand started by Lou Eppinger in 1906. This vintage item, cataloged under product code 8724, is unused and retains its original luster and crisp paintwork. The construction includes a sturdy silver-tone treble hook secured by a split ring at the rear and a pre-drilled line tie at the head. Its concave, oblong shape is a result of the proprietary dies used in the USA-based manufacturing process, specifically designed for casting or trolling applications.
