Adorning the face of this 1" (2.3 cm) spoon is the legendary red and white striped enamel that has identified Eppinger's work for over a century. This particular specimen is the Dardevle Skeeter, identified by product code 4662, and scales in at a light 1/16 oz (2 g). The silver-finished concave side bears a crisp stamp of the iconic devil head logo, a mark of authenticity that collectors look for. Still housed in its original blister pack, the lure is unused and remains exactly as it left the factory. The red cardstock packaging provides a nice bit of history, noting the Lou J. Eppinger Mfg. Co. location in Dearborn, Michigan, where the company moved in 1959. Designed for light-tackle trout and panfish, the spoon maintains the classic teardrop shape and weight distribution characteristic of the larger pike lures. The hardware consists of a sharp treble hook, and the paint finish on the metal body is remarkably well-preserved.
