Museum Archive: Eppinger Dardevle Spinnie, 1/3oz Red / Nickel fishing spoon #4786

Five black dots are spaced across the fluorescent red face of this 1/3 oz (9 g) Eppinger spoon, a signature look for the legendary Detroit brand. Measuring 1 3/4" (4.5 cm) in length, this specimen features the iconic devil head logo stamped clearly on its convex side. The reverse side reveals a bright nickel finish, deeply impressed with the "DARDEVLE SPINNIE U.S.A." mark. This casting spoon, listed under product code 4786, is unused and retains its original factory appearance. Its concave surface provides a distinct wobbling action during retrieval, a hallmark of the design since Lou Eppinger began production in 1906. The fluorescent finish is designed for high visibility, especially in UV light conditions. For the final rigging, the lure is equipped with a clean treble hook attached by a strong split ring.
