Dura-Pak — Lazy Ike Era and Nebraska Manufacturing

Based in South Sioux City, Nebraska, the Dura-Pak Corporation became a key figure in lure history during the 1980s. In 1981, the corporation acquired the Lazy Ike Corporation, taking over the manufacturing of a brand whose origins trace back to the 1920s.
For seven years, Dura-Pak remained the producer of the Lazy Ike line. From 1981 until 1988, the company managed the production and distribution of these specific lures. This period represents a distinct chapter in the timeline of the brand, during which South Sioux City served as the hub for its operations.
The company's tenure concluded in 1988 when The Great American Fishing Supply Company purchased the assets of Dura-Pak. This acquisition included the rights to the Lazy Ike brand, though the manufacturing of these lures remained localized in the Sioux City area following the transfer of ownership.
