Gibbs Delta Tackle — Canadian Trolling Heritage

The origins of the enterprise trace back to 1908, when Rufus Gibbs established his fishing tackle business in Victoria, British Columbia. This foundation made Gibbs Fishing Lures one of the earliest tackle manufacturers in North America. Decades later, in 1948, Delta Fishing Tackle was founded in Delta, British Columbia. These two entities eventually merged in the late 1990s to form Gibbs Delta Tackle, centralizing operations in Victoria and becoming a prominent fixture in the Canadian sport fishing landscape.
The company’s product development was dictated by the demanding environments of the Pacific Northwest. The tackle was engineered to withstand the requirements of trolling for large, powerful marine and anadromous species. Among the primary focus for their gear were King Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Halibut. The company also functioned as a pioneer in the refinement of auxiliary trolling equipment and hardware, providing the necessary tools for specific offshore presentations.
