Museum Archive: Vintage Herter's Wobbling Jig, 1/2oz Nickel / Brass fishing spoon #0937

Featuring a distinct dual-sided metal construction, one face presents a bright nickel finish while the reverse shows a brass tone. At a weight of 1/2oz (14.2 g) and a length of 3 1/4" (8.25 cm), this Herter's Wobbling Jig, carrying product code 0937, was manufactured in Japan and serves as a substantial casting or vertical jigging tool. The body is stamped with longitudinal ridges and features raised black eyes on the nickel side, contrasted by orange-painted eye spots on the brass reverse. Small metallic spinner blades are attached to the mid-section via split rings, showcasing a mix of silver and red-and-white paint schemes. The specimen is in 4/5 condition, showing well-preserved metal surfaces although the original tail feathers are no longer present on the single fixed hook.
