Weighing in at 1/3 oz (9 g), this metal spoon features a unique weedless design intended for navigating heavy cover. The 2 1/2" (6.5 cm) body of the Johnnie O’ Neils Weed Wing 2 is stamped with the manufacturer's mark and "PAT PEND," a detail that ties back to Johnnie O’ Neil’s original 1957 design out of Akron, Ohio, which eventually received its patent in 1962. This specimen, identified by product code 24205, is finished in a bright silver plating that remains well-preserved. Given its age, the lure is in 4/5 condition, showing only slight surface marks on the metal body that reflect its history as a pre-1960s Ohio original. The construction is centered around the signature front-facing 'wings' designed to deflect vegetation, leading back to a tapered spoon body. The hardware includes a sturdy front eyelet for line attachment and a rear loop ready for a trailer hook, as was common before the brand was sold to Harrison Industries in the mid-1960s.
