Museum Archive: Vintage Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon, Black, 3/4 oz (21 g), #24489

Weighing in at 3/4 oz (21 g), the heavy profile of this weedless spoon allows for precision casting into thick lily pads or dense reeds. A 2 3/4" (7 cm) teardrop shape is forged thicker in the middle, a design choice intended to keep the hook upright during a steady retrieve. Finished in a matte black that has aged into a 4/5 condition, the metal shows the honest wear of a tool built for heavy cover. A single fixed hook is shielded by a spring-metal weed guard, minimizing snags while hunting for bass or pike in the slop. Carrying product code 24489, this specific spoon represents the domestic manufacturing era. The black finish provides a distinct silhouette, making it a reliable choice for stained water where a high-contrast profile is required.
