Lake Clear Wabblers have been angler favourites since 1920. The classic shape of the original Lake Clear Wabblers have often been copied but never duplicated. These trolling spoons were originally designed for catching Lake Trout. They have been proven to also work well for Brookies, Browns and Rainbows also. The vibrant colors drive fish crazy and are sure to get a bite! We believe in doing things the old fashioned way which can guarantee high quality products.
The original Lake Clear Wabbler is 100 years old! It was fashioned from a car headlight in 1920, by H. Robare, a guide on Lake Clear in upstate NY.

Lake Clear Wabblers are versatile lures that can be effectively used for both trolling and casting. While nightcrawlers are a popular bait choice, anglers have also found success using spoons, spinners, and hardbaits like Rapala or Flatfish.

The size and color of the Wabbler are important factors to consider and depend on fishing conditions and the targeted fish species. Blade size and boat speed play a role in determining the diving depth and action of the Wabbler. Larger blades, such as #3, dive deeper and perform well at slower trolling speeds, while smaller #2 blades are shallower and require slightly faster speeds.

Color preferences can vary among anglers, with some believing it has little impact on fish response. Experimentation with different colors can help determine the most effective options for specific fishing locations. Varying the trolling speed and allowing the blade to flutter and dart can trigger fish responses.

When it comes to bait selection, nightcrawlers are the preferred choice. Anglers recommend hooking the worm through its collar towards the head, with the rest of the body trailing behind for a natural presentation. Cutting the worm to an appropriate length is advised, and using whole nightcrawlers can be effective for larger bait profiles.

Typical leader lengths range from 12 to 18 inches after the Wabbler. Adjusting the leader length is important based on fishing conditions and the depth at which the fish are located. Adding weight may be necessary in deeper lakes to reach the desired depth.

In conclusion, Lake Clear Wabblers can be used for trolling and casting, paired with nightcrawlers or other bait options. Blade size, color, trolling speed, and bait choice should be adapted to the fishing conditions and target species. Experimentation and flexibility in rigging techniques will help anglers optimize their chances of success with Lake Clear Wabblers.
