Museum Archive: Vintage Marathon (with sonic blades), 2/5oz Nickel fishing spoon #13300

Nickel plating provides a classic reflective surface on this 2 1/4" (6cm) spoon, which features the MARATHON name stamped clearly across its convex side. Weighing in at 2/5oz (12g), the construction is solid and includes two distinctive willow-shaped sonic blades. These narrow, movable mini-blades are attached near the rear split ring to provide extra visual flash and help obscure the sharp treble hook from wary fish. Coming out of Wausau, Wisconsin, between 1929 and 1979, the Marathon Bait Company built their reputation on these types of durable, stamped metal designs.
