Museum Archive: Vintage Marathon (with sonic blades), 2/5oz Frog / Nickel fishing spoon #7156

Green and yellow spots in a traditional frog pattern decorate the top surface of this 2 1/4" (6cm) spoon. Stamped clearly on the polished nickel underside is the name Marathon, a manufacturer that defined the Wisconsin tackle scene from their Wausau base between 1929 and 1979. At the tail of this 2/5oz (12g) specimen, identified by product code 7156, two distinctive silver-colored sonic blades are mounted on the split ring. These elongated mini-blades are positioned to reflect light and obscure the dark-finished treble hook while the lure is cast or trolled. This specimen presents in clean condition with minimal enamel wear, meriting a 5/5 rating.
