Museum Archive: Vintage Marathon (with sonic blades), 3/5oz Blue / Nickel fishing spoon #8429

A vibrant blue and white honeycomb scale pattern covers the front surface of this 3" (7.5 cm) spoon. Identified by product code 8429, the construction features two small, willow-shaped sonic blades attached by split rings near the rear. These reflective blades provide additional visual flash and serve to disguise the bronze-finished treble hook. Weighing in at 3/5 oz (17 g), the lure is a classic design from the Marathon Bait Company, which operated out of Wisconsin from 1929 to 1979. The reverse side reveals a polished nickel finish where "M-1" and "NAVY" are lightly visible on the metal. Currently rated in 4/5 condition, the painted finish shows minor wear but retains its distinctive textured appearance.
