Museum Archive: Vintage Marathon (with sonic blades), 2/5oz Gold / Nickel fishing spoon #9680

Featuring a classic teardrop shape, the gold-finished body of this spoon is accented by a vibrant prismatic scale pattern on the convex side. Stamped clearly on the concave reverse is the "MARATHON" name, a mark of the Marathon Bait Company which manufactured lures in Wisconsin between 1929 and 1979. This specific specimen, product code 9680, measures 2 1/4" (6 cm) and weighs 2/5 oz (12 g). Two small, nickel-finished sonic blades are attached just above the treble hook to create additional light reflection and provide visual camouflage for the hardware. This lure is in 5/5 condition, showing a clean finish on both the plated body and the additional blades.
