Museum Archive: Vintage Marathon (with sonic blades), 2/5oz Red / Gold / Nickel fishing spoon #9751

Red and gold holographic tape creates a striking visual contrast on the front of this 2 1/4" (6cm) casting spoon. Produced by the Marathon Bait Company, a prominent Wisconsin manufacturer between 1929 and 1979, this specimen features the distinctive "sonic blade" configuration. Two elongated nickel-finished blades are mounted directly to the rear split rings, designed to simulate the flicker of tail fins while masking the sharp treble hook. The reverse side of the 2/5oz (12g) body is stamped with the manufacturer's name across the polished nickel surface. Identified by product code 9751, the lure is in 5/5 condition, maintaining the integrity of its reflective holographic inserts and original hardware. The split rings and hooks show the robust construction typical of mid-century USA-made tackle.
