Savage Gear

Savage Gear

Savage Gear is the brainchild of Mads Grosell, a passionate Danish angler and product developer. Frustrated with the lack of truly realistic and durable lures for tackling large European predators: Pike, Zander, and Catfish Grosell set out in the early 2000s  to bridge the gap between imagination and reality in fishing tackle.

The brand, which is part of the larger Danish company Svendsen Sport A/S, quickly rose to prominence by ditching traditional lure molds and embracing high technology. Their breakthrough came with the integration of 3D scanning technology. By scanning actual baitfish, they could create molds that replicated every scale, fin, and anatomical detail, resulting in soft and hard baits with an unprecedented level of realism.

Savage Gear’s success lies in its philosophy of "innovation and realism." The brand is constantly pushing the boundaries of what a lure can do, introducing features like magnetic hook holders, internal line-through systems, and photo-realistic 4D prints, establishing itself as a dominant force in modern predator fishing worldwide.

The Lure Philosophy: Hyper-Realism and Engineered Action

Savage Gear lures are not just realistic; they are anatomical duplicates engineered to elicit strikes through visual deception and precise, natural movement.

3D Scanning and 4D Prints: Their flagship lures, such as the Line Thru Trout or the 3D Roach, are products of genuine 3D scans. This results in baits that are visually perfect. The more recent 4D technology adds photo-chromatic skin prints and real fish scents, appealing to every sense of the predator.

The Line Thru System: A major Savage Gear innovation is the Line Thru internal harness system. By allowing the main line to run directly through the bait, the lure can slide up the line away from the fish’s teeth after a strike. This protects the line from damage and ensures the fish cannot use the heavy lure body for leverage to throw the hook.

Engineered Action: Lures like the segmented Trout or Perch soft baits are built with multiple joints and internal weights to produce a specific, enticing "S-curve" swim action. This movement perfectly mimics a large, relaxed forage fish, making the lure a massive and irresistible target for trophy pike and musky.
