Museum Archive: Seneca Side-Winder S101, 1/3oz Gold fishing spoon #14594

Stamped directly into the metal, the "SIDE-WINDER" and weight markings distinguish this 1/3 oz (9 g) gold spoon. Measuring 2 1/4" (5.5 cm) in length, this specimen is a product of the Seneca Tackle Co. out of Providence, R.I., manufactured before the brand's eventual acquisition by Acme in the 1970s. The reflective gold finish remains in its original state as the lure is unused and still housed in its vintage blister pack. Identified by product code 14594 and catalog number S 101, the construction consists of a curved metal body and a single treble hook. The original card backing features the classic blue and white striped motif with the Seneca logo, indicating its origin as a piece of American-made tackle history intended for casting or trolling.
