Museum Archive: Vintage Thomas Buoyant, 3/16oz fishing spoon #15898

Stamped into the polished yellow metal of the reverse side are the markings T101 and BUOYANT, identifying this classic American-made spoon. Carrying product code 15898, the specimen weighs 3/16 oz (5 g) and has a total length of 1 1/2" (4 cm). The front face displays a textured, hammered surface with a red-to-yellow sunburst gradient, accented by black-ringed red dots and smaller yellow spots. Patented in the USA in 1946, the Buoyant was engineered with a jewelry-quality finish to mimic the frantic movement of baitfish when pursuing trout, salmon, and pike. This lure is in 5/5 condition with a bright, clean finish and features its original rear treble hook and split ring hardware.
