Stamping across the face of the gold blade marks this specimen as a genuine Mepps Aglia 3, featuring the early "British Patent" and "Brevete France" designations. This vintage 1/4oz (7g) spinner measures 2 3/4" (7cm) and displays the classic French construction characteristic of the 1950s. The weighted brass body is distinctly ribbed, paired with a series of brass beads and a bell-shaped spacer that allows the oval blade to rotate freely around the wire shaft. On the reverse side of the blade, the "Made in France" stamp remains crisp and clearly visible. The hardware consists of a sturdy brass clevis and a standard treble hook, both of which appear well-preserved and maintain their original form. Identified by product code 5733, this lure is in excellent condition, rated 5/5, with the metal components showing a clean, uniform finish. Andre Meulnart’s design relies on this specific blade geometry to spin effectively even at lower retrieve speeds, a technical detail that established the Aglia as a foundational tool for targeting trout, bass, and pike. The wire work is finished with a traditional tight wrap at the top eyelet, ensuring the structural integrity of the entire assembly for casting.
