Gleaming in a rich Gold finish, this specimen exemplifies the clever engineering Johnnie O'Neil brought to the angling world from Akron, Ohio, starting in 1957. Measuring 2 3/4" (7 cm) and weighing 1/2 oz (14 g), the Weed Wing 3 is a substantial piece of mid-century American tackle history. The stamped metal body features the distinct engraving associated with O'Neil’s 1962 patent, a design that was eventually sold to Harrison Industries in the mid-1960s. For navigating heavy cover, the lure is equipped with three fine wire guards that protect the large, integrated single hook. Identified by product code 11450, the specimen remains in excellent condition, rated 5/5 with its reflective surfaces and hardware showing very well. The construction highlights the transition of this model from a small-scale Ohio invention to a staple later produced by Panther Martin.
