Sized at a compact 1 1/4" (3 cm), this specimen represents the classic American-made legacy of Louis Johnson’s 1920 invention. This specific lure, carrying product code 2844, features a silver finish that provides a whiter, brighter flash in the water compared to standard chrome plating. Weighing in at a delicate 3/64 oz (1.5 g), the spoon is constructed from a specialized alloy that is thicker in the middle, designed to maintain a consistent upward hook position to navigate through dense vegetation. The integrated wire weed guard protects the single hook, allowing for casting into lily pads and brush where other lures might snag. On the back of the vintage carding from Amsterdam, Missouri, original instructions recommend attaching a pork strip or worm to the hook to enhance the presentation. The design facilitates a rocking motion through a 270-degree angle, casting reflections downward and to the sides where predatory fish typically strike. This particular item remains unused in its original blue and white blister pack.
