Museum Archive: Vintage Yakima Bait Worden’s Original Rooster Tail, 1/4oz Brass / Orange spinning lure #12634

Brass scale patterns are etched into the willow leaf blade, which clearly displays the stamped "ROOSTER TAIL" name and "1/4" weight designation. This specimen, identified by product code 12634, features an orange body with dark horizontal accents, a design choice by Yakima Bait that provides high contrast in various water conditions. At 1/4oz (7g) and a length of 2 3/4" (7cm), the lure is built around a central wire shaft that allows the blade to rotate freely. The tail is dressed with a combination of red and black hackle feathers, a hallmark of Howard Worden’s original 1950s concept. In 5/5 condition, the paint remains vibrant without chips, and the hardware shows no signs of use. The construction of the in-line spinner relies on the balance between the weighted orange body and the thin brass blade to achieve its intended presentation.
