Stamped clearly on the reverse side is the "Dearborn, MI" mark, situating this Eppinger Dardevle in the lineage produced after the company’s 1959 relocation. At a substantial 1 oz (28 g) and measuring 3 1/2" (9 cm) in length, this specimen carries the legendary Red Devle color scheme—a deep red body centered by a vertical white stripe. Right on that white center, the iconic imp logo is stamped with impressive clarity.
Flipping it over reveals a polished nickel back that shows very little sign of age, maintaining a mirror-like finish. The hardware is equally well-preserved, featuring a heavy-duty split ring and a sharp, sturdy treble hook. This specific lure, carrying product code 22492, is in 5/5 condition, appearing remarkably clean with no visible loss to the paint or stampings.
Eppinger has utilized their proprietary dies in the USA for generations to achieve the precise oblong shape and concave surface seen here. While often used for heavy casting for pike or salmon, these spoons are equally at home being trolled behind a boat where their construction allows for a consistent, reliable wobble. The devil head stamp remains one of the most recognized signatures in the history of American tackle.
