Museum Archive: Vintage Eppinger Dardevle Devle Dog, 1/3oz Red / White fishing spoon #0169

The distinct red and white stripes on this spoon are accented by the classic black outline "devil" logo stamped directly onto the center white band. Eppinger’s legacy in Detroit is physically represented here by the stamped text on the polished metal reverse, which reads "DEVLE-DOG 7600 DETROIT U.S.A." Measuring 2" (5 cm) and weighing 1/3 oz (10 g), the Devle Dog features an oblong, concave body designed for casting or trolling. A sturdy treble hook is secured to the tail end with a metal split ring, while a single pre-drilled hole at the nose provides the connection point for a snap or leader. This specimen shows slight paint thinning along the edges and very minor surface marks on the silver-finished back, earning a condition rating of 4/5.
