Measuring 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm), this split-finished spoon is a quintessential piece of American angling history from Michigan-based Eppinger. The deep blue paint on the top half contrasts sharply against the high-flash nickel belly, a color scheme intended for visibility across various light conditions. At a weight of 3/16 oz (6 g), the Dardevle Midget (product code 0001) is weighted for light tackle casting. The stamped metal body features the classic concave design that Lou Eppinger refined using proprietary dies, which creates a wobbling action during a slow retrieve. This specimen is in excellent shape, earning a rating of 5/5. The silver-tone treble hook is securely attached via a sturdy split ring to the teardrop-shaped blade. These spoons were once so trusted for their reliability that they were packed into aviation survival kits during wartime. The polished nickel back remains clean, reflecting light just as it did when it left the factory.
