Northland

Northland Tackle Company
The company was founded in 1975 by John Peterson in Bemidji, Minnesota. This region is known as the headwaters of the Mississippi River and is a hub for North American fishing, especially focused on the Walleye species.
Key Specialization:
Unlike bass-focused manufacturers, Northland Tackle concentrated on tackle for cold freshwater. This includes jigs, spinners, and specialized equipment for ice fishing.
Defining Innovations (Jigs):
Fire-Ball Jig: This innovative jig head features a short shank and a specialized hook bend designed to perfectly present live bait (such as minnows or maggots). It quickly became the standard for Walleye fishing.
Buck-Shot Rattle Jig: Northland pioneered the integration of rattles directly into the body of the jig head, creating extra sonic vibrations that attract fish in murky water or under the ice.
For decades, Northland Tackle has been synonymous with quality and innovation in North American predator fishing. They continue to dominate the Walleye fishing segment and are one of the most respected brands among anglers in the colder US states and Canada.
