Stamped clearly into the silver blade, the "MEPPS 3 AGLIA" markings denote a mid-century classic that has defined the spinner category for generations of anglers. Measuring 2 3/4" (7 cm), this 1950s era specimen, cataloged under product code 4777, features the "BRITISH PATENT BREVETE FRANCE" inscription on the front and "MADE IN FRANCE" on the reverse, highlighting the early European manufacturing of Andre Meulnart’s design. The 1/4 oz (7 g) weight is centered on a solid, ribbed brass body and accompanying brass beads that serve as the main ballast for casting. Its silver-finished blade rotates on a brass clevis, a core component of the cone rotation system that enables the lure to spin as soon as it is retrieved. A sharp treble hook is secured to the end of the wire frame, which is finished with a traditional twisted eyelet for line attachment. This particular lure is in 5/5 condition, exhibiting exceptionally clean metal surfaces and deep, legible stamping on both sides of the blade. The simple yet effective construction of the brass body and silver-finished blade remains a benchmark of precision in vintage tackle design.
