Stamped clearly on the silver blade, the 'Made in France' and patent marks define the character of this 1/4oz (6.5g) classic. This 1960s-era specimen features the iconic Comet blade shape, distinct for its rounded profile and intricate engravings including the size 3 designation. A notable construction detail is the interchangeable hook system, which allows the angler to detach the dressed treble from the main wire frame. Measuring 2 3/4" (7cm), the lure is built with a series of stacked, dark-ridged body beads that provide the necessary ballast for casting. The treble hook is dressed with a combination of natural squirrel tail hair and a single vibrant red feather, all secured by a tight red thread wrap at the eyelet. Showing signs of its history with a condition rating of 4/5, the silver finish and hardware remain clean and functional. Although the components originated in France, this model was assembled in the USA, representing a significant period in Mepps’ distribution history.
