A striking Fire Tiger / Nickel finish distinguishes this 1oz (28g) specimen from the classic plain silver versions. Measuring 3 1/2" (9cm), the spoon features a copper/zinc alloy base that is thicker in the center, a design choice Louis Johnson made back in 1920 to influence how the lure sits in the water. Stamped clearly on the nickel-plated underside are the marks of its heritage: "MADE IN U.S.A." alongside the "JOHNSON SILVER MINNOW" branding. The integrated single hook is protected by a sturdy metal weed guard, specifically engineered for casting into heavy cover where predators hide. Finding these older American-made models with the 2271 product code in 4/5 condition is a highlight for a tackle box, especially with the vibrant green, yellow, and orange scale patterns remaining crisp against the black accents. The line tie at the nose is well-preserved, and the reverse side provides a bright flash that was originally achieved using real silver plating to ensure visibility from below and the sides.
