Museum Archive: Vintage Eppinger Dardevle Dardevlet, 3/4oz Frog / Green / Yellow / Nickel fishing spoon #5408

Green and yellow crackle textures define the classic "Frog" finish on this 3/4oz (21g) casting spoon. This particular Eppinger specimen, known as the Dardevlet, carries the product code 5408 and measures 2 3/4" (7cm) in total length. You can clearly see the "DARDEVLET - DETROIT - U.S.A." stamp on the polished nickel backside, providing a direct link to the company's early years in Detroit before they relocated to Dearborn in 1959. The front surface is decorated with yellow spots containing black centers, surrounding a central yellow circle featuring the iconic devil head logo. In terms of condition, it rates a solid 5/5; the painted finish is exceptionally clean and the nickel plating on the concave side remains highly reflective. It comes rigged with a strong treble hook and a heavy-duty split ring at the head. This Dardevlet model was designed to be a mid-sized option in the lineup, utilizing the proprietary concave shape that Lou Eppinger developed to influence its path through the water when casting or trolling.
