Stamped clearly on the reverse side with 'DEVLE-DOG 5400 DETROIT U.S.A.,' this Eppinger spoon represents a classic piece of Michigan angling history. The front features a clean White Pearl base, bordered by scalloped red stripes and a central inlay of pink holographic tape that catches the light. This specimen, assigned product code 5535, measures 2 1/4" (5.5 cm) and weighs 2/3 oz (18 g). Built for versatility, the spoon is classified as a UV Glow and Fluorescent type, utilizing specialized finishes to stay visible in deeper or murky water. The hardware includes a high-quality treble hook connected via a split ring, paired with a single line-tie hole at the narrow end. Looking at the finish and hardware, the lure is in unused condition. Eppinger has utilized proprietary dies for their spoons since 1906, and the concave shape of this 5400 series is designed to create a specific wobbling movement during a retrieve. It’s a solid, heavy-duty lure that serves both the collector's shelf and the tackle box equally well.
