Sized for light tackle applications, this specimen weighs 1/4 oz (7.5 g) and measures 2 1/4" (5.5 cm) in length. Stamped on the concave interior is the "Dardevle Trout Imp" name, identifying it as a product of the Eppinger company, which has been a staple in the fishing industry since Lou Eppinger began crafting lures in Detroit in 1906. This lure, designated by product code 0831, features the "Crystal" finish, a deep gold-tone hammered pattern designed to provide maximum flash during a retrieve. The hardware consists of a sturdy split ring and a treble hook that remains well-preserved. While the surface shows light evidence of its age, it maintains its metallic luster, resulting in a 3/5 condition rating. Eppinger's proprietary dies were used to create the specific oblong shape of the spoon, a design so effective it was historically included in aviation survival kits for the United States government.
