Stamped with the "BREVETE SGDG" and "MADE IN FRANCE" marks on the back of the blade, this mid-century spinner illustrates the high-quality French craftsmanship commissioned by the American company Marathon in the 1950s. The Marathon Valse, identified by product code 2970, carries a solid brass color throughout its construction, from the teardrop blade to the four-tiered weighted body. At a length of 3" (7.5cm) and a weight of 2/5oz (12g), it offers substantial mass for casting. The blade features three embossed stars sitting above a beautifully scripted "Valse" logo, a hallmark of this specific model's aesthetic. A vibrant red plastic sleeve covers the shank of the treble hook, providing a focal point for following fish. Presented in 4/5 condition, the lure shows very minimal wear, maintaining a clean finish across the metal components and original hardware. The clevis-mounted blade is designed to rotate around the central wire, paired with a segmented body that provides a balanced profile during retrieval.
