Measuring exactly 2 1/4" (6cm) in length, the spoon’s body is cast from a specific copper/zinc alloy that is notably thicker in the center than at the edges. This specific weight distribution, totaling 2/5oz (12g), is technically engineered to cause the lure to rock back and forth through a 270-degree angle, keeping the single hook facing upward. Stamped clearly on the underside is "Johnson's Silver Minnow," though this particular specimen features a deep Black finish as noted under product code 12111. The integrated weed guard is a hallmark of Louis Johnson’s 1920 design, allowing the lure to pass through vegetation without snagging. As an original USA-made piece, it reflects the craftsmanship found before production was moved overseas. The metal surface and hardware are in excellent 5/5 condition. This construction directs flashes of reflection downwards and to the sides, specifically designed to catch the eye of predators attacking from below. The single hook is also designed to accommodate a trailer, such as a pork rind, without disrupting the rocking balance of the spoon.
This specific lure has found its new home. However, we have selected some excellent alternatives for you below.
