Dimpled textures on the lower half of the teardrop blade give this silver W.T. J. Lowe spinner #4 its distinctive late-19th-century appearance. Weighing 1/4 oz (7 g) and measuring 3 1/2" (9 cm) in total length, the lure represents the artisan era of Buffalo, New York, lure making before the company’s designs were integrated into the Pflueger lineup. The upper portion of the blade is smooth, featuring clear stamped markings for the manufacturer and the size designation. Sturdy brass wire and linked hardware connect the blade to a treble hook dressed in natural feathers, which are secured by a dark, hand-wrapped thread. This specimen, identified by product code 19886, remains in well-preserved 4/5 condition, showing the authentic character of a lure that was active between the 1890s and 1915.
