A copper-finished backside on this vintage Eppinger spoon provides a warm flash that complements the iconic Red Devil Copper paint on the front. Bearing product code 17196, this Dardevle measures 3 1/2" (9cm) and represents a significant piece of Michigan’s fishing heritage. The interior face features the crisp "DARDEVLE DETROIT, U.S.A." stamp, a hallmark of the production period before the company's 1959 relocation to Dearborn. At 1oz (28g), the lure's weight and concave shape are designed for steady retrieves where the spoon produces a distinct wobbling motion. The specimen is in 4/5 condition, showing authentic signs of use through minor paint wear while maintaining its structural integrity. Lou Eppinger's original design philosophy is evident in the heavy-duty treble hook and split ring assembly, which remain ready for the water. Whether casting in clear or cloudy conditions, the contrast between the enameled stripes and the raw copper back provides high visibility. The stamped lettering remains dark and legible against the polished metal surface.
