Stamped clearly into the copper backside of this spoon are the words "DARDEVLE DETROIT. U.S.A.", identifying its heritage from Lou Eppinger’s legendary Michigan workshops before the company's 1959 relocation. This 1 oz (28 g) specimen features the iconic red and white striped finish on its concave front, accented by the recognizable devil head logo printed near the upper split ring. Measuring 3 1/2" (9 cm) in length, the lure is finished with a warm copper belly that provides a distinct visual contrast against the painted face. The hardware consists of a robust treble hook secured by a sturdy split ring, both appearing well-preserved. In a condition rated 5/5, the enamel remains smooth and the stamped lettering on the reverse is crisp and legible. This specific model, cataloged under product code 9048, serves as a quintessential example of the casting spoons that built the Eppinger reputation over a century ago. The heavy gauge of the metal provides the density needed for distance casting and reaching deeper water columns where predatory fish congregate.
