Measuring 4" (10cm) from the swivel to the hook bend, this fluted spoon represents a significant chapter in late 19th-century tackle evolution. The nickel-plated blade features deep ridges designed by Gardner M. Skinner to catch and throw light, and it is clearly stamped with the Clayton, N.Y. origin and the 1874 Canadian patent date. At a weight of 3/16oz (6g), the size 4 spinner is built on a sturdy wire frame that terminates in a period-correct double hook. The hardware includes a high-mounted brass-toned wire loop and an integrated swivel, which were standard for the trolling techniques used during the era.
